Teen Programs:
Safety & Personal Protection

There are safety courses designed and directed toward men, women, and children found all
around the country. However, there seems to be a lack of courses directed specifically at
the teenage population. Teens face similar threats to what adults and children might face,
but they also face threats unique to their age group.

To combat this issue EDT has developed programs designed to fit the specific needs of
teens. This includes things such as- decreased awareness which can be induced by drugs
and alcohol and issues of date rape and date rape drugs.

Personal Safety Tips For Teens:

·         If you carry a purse, keep it close to your body and tightly closed.

·         If you carry a wallet, keep it in the front pants pocket if possible.

·         Avoid secluded or dark routes and shortcuts.

·         Whenever going out, go with friends. There’s safety in numbers!

·         Avoid parties which include alcohol, or avoid drinking alcohol which can
impair awareness and physical self-defense skills.

·         Have your car key in hand as you approach your vehicle.

·         Don't give strangers personal information.

·         If going out, always let someone know where your are going and who you are
going with. Leave notes if you have to.

EDT offers comprehensive personal protection and safety courses designed for teens. Here
is just a sample of what you will learn-

-Awareness, Avoidance, & Prevention

-Psychology of Self-Defense

-Physiology of Self-Defense

-Physical Defense Skills

-Escape Options

-Defeating The Date Rapist

-What To Do If You Have Been Victimized

and much more....

Join forces with EDT and schedule a Safety Options Workshop TODAY.
Empower the girls in your Scout Troop, Gym class, Organization, Home, Community...with the information, tools and resources needed to lower their risk of becoming a crime statistic. The importance of these types of classes is underlined by the statistics that 1 in 3 women will be victims of sexual assault by the time they are 18 years old. (and the most disturbing fact is that only 30% of rapes are ever reported!) Sexual assault and sexual violence thrive in silence. Break the silence and make a difference TODAY.
