| There are two themes running simultaneously in my book. These two themes are "hope" and "adversity". Unlike most books written on a difficult topic such as child abuse, I have used metaphors and similes that allude to the verbal, physical, and sexual abuse that Anastasia experienced. I take you on Anastasia's journey of living in an abusive environment. At the same time, she demonstrates how hope, courage, determination, persistence, and perserverance pushes her forward to move towards the goals she has set forth for herself. You will discover as you enter Anastasia's journey, you will also enter into your own journey because adversity is a fact of life, it's just that we all experience and deal with it differently. |

Imagine A World Free of Violence...
The
purpose of this site is to disseminate the work of Dr. Paul Schewe. Dr.
Schewe is the Director of UIC’s Interdisciplinary Center for Research
on Violence.
He is a clinical/ community
psychologist with extensive experience in developing and evaluating
violence prevention programs and community-based interventions.
His work ranges from basic research identifying factors associated with
sexual assault victimization and perpetration, to developing preventive
interventions, to using evaluation and dissemination strategies to
further develop existing interpersonal violence prevention programs for
agencies, communities, and statewide networks of service providers.
The fous of his research includes sexual assault, teen dating
violence, domestic violence, and early childhood interventions to
promote positive social-emotional development.
Dr. Schewe’s work has been disseminated in books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and at national conferences.
